When it comes to patient care, Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in the pharmacy to ensure patients get the help they need. Amy Anderson, Medicine-On-Time Pharmacy Technician at Hunter’s Specialty Pharmacy in Oklahoma City, OK goes above and beyond for her patients. She works directly with patients as well as Home Health Care organizations to make sure community members can follow their medication treatment plan from home.
Amy has been a Pharmacy Technician for 8 years and has worked at Hunter’s Specialty Pharmacy for all 8 years offering Medicine-On-Time to her community. We sat down with Amy and asked her a few questions about her role and experience in the pharmacy.
The Medicine-On-Time program allows patients to keep as much independence over their medication as possible. It allows the patient, family members and care team to focus on other important matters and avoid the stress of keeping up with refills and changes to prescriptions.
At Hunter’s Specialty Pharmacy our patients are like family to us. I treat my patients as I would want to be treated. I form relationships/friendships with them. They trust that I am giving them the best care of my ability and I’m honored with that task.
We have had many patients that moved out of state that have called us looking for a Medicine-On-Time pharmacy in their new state. Many refer this program to friends and loved ones. Word of mouth has been our greatest marketing source.
Amy regularly goes above and beyond by going out to patients homes to show them how to properly utilize the Medicine-On-Time program correctly and efficiently. She works with local home health agencies to get the patients most in need transitioned into the program. Amy is always requested on the phone and takes the time to answer every question. She also tries her best to treat every single patient like she would like to be treated. It creates tremendous patient loyalty to the pharmacy and the Medicine-On-Time program.
